In the N2-A District, purely commercial uses are limited. Accessory and Temporary Uses

The Municipality of Charlotte permits several accessory uses in the N2-A District that are incidental to the primary use of the property. Temporary uses are also allowed for limited durations, typically related to construction or seasonal events.

  • Accessory Uses (All PC): Accessory Shelter, Adult Care Home, Childcare Center in Residence, Childcare Home (Family), Dwelling – Accessory Unit (ADU), Home Occupation, Outdoor Sales and Display, Outdoor Seating/Activity Area, and Rooming House [Table 15-1].
  • Temporary Uses (All PC): Mobile Food Vendor, Mobile Retail Vendor, Outdoor Produce Sales, Outdoor Seasonal Sales, Real Estate Project Sales Office, Temporary Contractor’s Office/Yard, Temporary Outdoor Entertainment, Temporary Outdoor Sales, and Temporary Outdoor Storage Containers [Table 15-1].

Prohibited Uses in N2-A

Uses that are not explicitly listed as permitted in the Global Use Matrix are prohibited in the City of Charlotte N2-A District. These typically include high-intensity commercial, industrial, and automotive uses. Examples of prohibited uses include:

  • Adult Uses: Adult Electronic Gaming Establishments and Adult Uses.
  • Industrial: Heavy Manufacturing, Light Assembly (except as PC in some contexts), Salvage Yards, and Warehousing.
